In close proximity to Larissa, in the middle of the Thessalian plain, there is a place that offers a very different dive. In Argyropouli, Tyrnavos there is a natural spring that creates a small lake. Its depth hardly exceeds 7 meters and the temperature remains constant at 16 degrees all year round. Visibility is variable and usually in the spring the waters are crystal clear. Leave your car in the parking lot and carry your things to the small bridge. Set up your equipment there and perform your checks. Remember that this is a freshwater dive so lack of salt means you will need less weight. The altitude in the area is close to 100 meters, so given the small maximum depth of the dive, you do not need a different board for altitude diving.

THE COAST

Swimming and fishing are prohibited in the lake, diving is allowed only upon agreement with the municipality of Tyrnavos. The area is very beautiful and is ideal for long walks so your non diving company will not be bored.

ENTRY TO THE SEA

Next to the bridge there is a small opening that allows entry to the water. As a rule, the seabed is muddy, so it may be a little difficult for you to enter.

THE DIVE

You can navigate the lake as you wish, it is very difficult to get lost or do something wrong. The underwater vegetation is very different and will impress you. Plants that start from the depths rise to the surface of the water, creating a very different setting from the typical Mediterranean dive we are used to in our seas. The place on the bottom where the water springs giving the impression of boiling is also impressive.

Take your time and explore. Be careful not to damage the vegetation and when you want to exit, use the same spot where you entered the water.

BONUS FACT: If you managed to get out without mud and vegetation, your equipment does not even need washing, as you dived in fresh water.
